Stratford’s Best Coffee Hotspots

Looking to grab a coffee during the Stratford Writers Festival? We’ve got you covered as we share some of our favourite Stratford locations in the first of this Discover Stratford series.

revel

At revel the experience is more than that of just a coffee house. Stop by for breakfast, lunch, or a snack, and you’ll be greeted with a warm, comfortable atmosphere and plenty of seating both inside and out. Located right off Market Square in downtown Stratford, it’s the perfect place to put your feet up after a well-spent day of author panels and signings. If you’re lucky enough to visit revel on a Saturday, keep your eyes open for their famous Saturday Donuts – having a dedicated Pastry Chef at this cafe clearly has its perks!

Location: 50 Wellington Street

Balzac’s

Balzac‘s name is synonymous with literature, but did you know that the first Balzac’s location was opened right here in Stratford in 1996? With 12 locations across Ontario, this cafe has become a household name for artisanal and sustainable coffee, tea, and baked goods. Take a seat on the outdoor patio, or enjoy the rustic, Parisian inspired atmosphere inside. Before you leave, pick up a to-go bag of craft roasted coffee so you can bring your memories of Balzac’s home.

Location: 149 Ontario Street

Edison’s Cafe Bar

Before you ask, yes, Thomas Edison did once live at this location! Now, Edison’s Cafe Bar is a charming 3-room inn with a cozy cafe downstairs that promotes locally sourced food and drink and fair trade coffee. Grab a seat on the outdoor patio, or sit inside and invent the next light bulb while you sip hot coffee and munch on fresh sandwiches and baked goods.

Location: 46 Ontario Street
